Known as a new era in the world of high-end customisation for watches, Artisans de Genève has quickly created a name and a reputation for itself. The Swiss workshop specialises in aesthetic modifications that are not simply limited to a new dial or a bezel in a different colour, quite the opposite. The expertise of Geneva's best watchmakers can be found here, with a level of finish that is constantly superior to the product before its modification. With its reputation for skeleton movements, 'AdG' has made this its trademark, and today it is the skeleton editions that are the most sought-after by collectors.

This particular mode is unique in that it has been created in collaboration with Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Spike Lee, an emblematic figure of New York culture. The colours of the city are echoed on the watch, which harmoniously combines blue and orange.
The attention to detail is simply stunning, from the 'start' and 'reset' indications discreetly affixed to the chronograph push-buttons to the orange edging on the winding crown.
Not much is left from the original Daytona, the bezel has been replaced by a new one with a steel edge, as on a vintage model, and a blue ceramic insert with the inscription "tachymeter" in orange. All the hands have also been changed for new ones, including a pair of dauphine-style hands in pink gold, magnificently polished as we might see on the finest vintage timepieces.

As for the movement, it is undoubtedly this watch's pièce de résistance. The calibre 4130 that equips the Daytona has been metamorphosed, entirely skeletonised and finished with sandblasting and hand-bevelling, before a rose gold finish is applied. Operation remains similar to that of a normal Daytona, and reliability is in no way compromised by the modification. The oscillating weight in the sapphire caseback is made of blue PVD tungsten and features the "BKLYN" signature.
